THE LOST WAVERLEY LINE
It was rare indeed that a mainline route was closed but that is what happened to the picturesque Waverley line which ran through Cumbria, into the Scottish Borders and onto Edinburgh. It was just short of a hundred miles long but was formerly proposed for closure in 1966. There are also atmospheric shots of Carlisle’s Citadel Station and the Kingmoor marshalling yards in this film.
