Rare film of the Home Guard training throughout Cumbria gives you a fascinating glimpse of life in the county during the war years. There was a very real threat of invasion at the beginning of the war. Sometimes the image of the Home Guard is something of a ‘Dad’s Army’ but they had a very serious job to do. This is probably the greatest archive film of the Home Guard being put through their paces in existence in the county.
